Day 4 The 1960s

Part III: Vietnam Era Song Analysis 

Music has always been a popular way of telling stories. Perhaps no single event in modern American history has inspired more songs than the Vietnam War. Click on the song below that you are the most interested in listening to and then answer the song analysis questions below. You many need to use the internet to research some of the questions. Don't forget if you don't see a song below that interests you, you are more than welcome to pick you own song, as long as, it is school appropriate and falls within the Vietnam era. 

1. Name of the song and artist. What year was this track released?
2. Are the lyrics serious, factitious (silly) or a combination?
3. What specific issue(s) is the artist addressing?
4. Is the audience a specific person or a group of people?
5. Quote a line or phrases that would suggest the historical time frame in which the
song was written to somebody who listened to it today?
6. Are there any word plays within the song that give the lyrics wit or distinctive voice?
